Rodas

Cienfuegos, Cuba

Why visit Rodas?

Rodas is a small agricultural town in central Cienfuegos province, Cuba, located approximately 25 km north-west of Cienfuegos city. Founded in 1859, the town has a population of around 20,000 and serves as the administrative centre of the eponymous municipality. The surrounding area is flat agricultural land devoted primarily to sugar cane and cattle.

Rodas has a quiet, unremarkable character typical of Cuban provincial towns. The central plaza is the focal point, with a church, municipal buildings, and a few colonial-era houses. The economy is based on sugar production and livestock. The climate is tropical, with a dry season from November to April and a wet season from May to October.

The town sees virtually no tourist traffic and offers an authentic glimpse of everyday Cuban life in the agricultural interior.
