About Nanchong

Nanchong (南充; Nánchōng) is a prefecture-level city in northeastern Sichuan, on the middle reaches of the Jialing River. It is one of the most populous cities in Sichuan and a major agricultural centre, but its greatest attraction for visitors is the nearby Langzhong Ancient City — one of the best-preserved Ming and Qing Dynasty walled towns in China, often called the "Gem of Sichuan." Nanching is also the birthplace of the founding father of the People's Republic of China, Zhu De (one of the ten marshals). The climate is subtropical monsoon with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the best times to visit.
