Why visit Coloane?

Coloane (路环; Lùhuán) is the southernmost island of Macau, connected to Taipa by a 2.2 km stretch of reclaimed land known as the Cotai Strip. While Taipa and the peninsula have been heavily urbanised, Coloane retains a relaxed, village-like atmosphere with green hills, sandy beaches, hiking trails, and small-scale Macanese and Portuguese restaurants. It is the quietest part of Macau and a favourite weekend escape for locals. Coloane Village is a picturesque former fishing settlement with pastel-coloured houses, a waterfront square, and the legendary Lord Stow's Bakery where the Portuguese egg tart was introduced to Macau in 1989. Much of the island is protected as the Coloane Nature Park and Hac Sa Nature Park. The climate is humid subtropical.
