About Parakarungu

Parakarungu is a rural village in the Chobe District of northern Botswana, situated west of Kasane near the Namibia border. It lies within the Chobe floodplain system, an area of seasonal wetlands and mopane woodlands. The village is home to a small community and is primarily agricultural, with livestock farming and subsistence cropping being the main economic activities.

By Plane

The nearest airport is Kasane International Airport (BBK), approximately 60 km east. Taxi or private transfer from the airport takes about 1 hour.

By Train

By Car / Road

Parakarungu is accessible via unpaved roads branching west from the main Kasane–Katima Mulilo route. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended, especially during the rainy season.

The village is compact and walkable. A private vehicle is necessary for travel to Kasane or other nearby settlements.
