About Cazin

Cazin is a town in the far northwest of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the Una-Sana Canton near the border with Croatia. It is the cultural and economic centre of the Cazinska Krajina micro-region, known for its distinct dialect, traditions, and a strong sense of local identity. The town sits on the banks of the Una River and is surrounded by green hills and farmland. Cazin has a lively market town atmosphere, with one of the largest open-air farmers' markets in the country.

The climate is continental: warm summers and cold winters with significant snowfall. The town's history is marked by Ottoman rule, the Bosnian War, and a strong resistance tradition—the 1950 Cazin Rebellion against Yugoslav collectivisation is a notable local historical event. Today, Cazin is a friendly, unhurried town with a good base of restaurants and accommodation for the Una National Park region.
