About Armenia
Armenia is a small rural village in the Cayo District of Belize, located in the foothills south of the Belize River valley. The community is primarily Mestizo and Maya, engaged in subsistence agriculture and small-scale livestock farming. The village is quiet and off the main tourist routes, offering an authentic look at everyday Belizean rural life.
The surrounding landscape is a mix of cleared farmland and broadleaf tropical forest, with limestone hills characteristic of the Cayo District. The area receives significant rainfall during the wet season (June–November), making the dry season (February–May) the more comfortable time to visit. Armenia is not a tourist destination in itself, but serves as a waypoint for travellers exploring the less-visited interior of the Cayo District.
