About Beshankovichy

Beshankovichy (Бешанковічы) is a historic urban-type settlement of about 7,000 people in Viciebskaja voblasć, located on the Daugava River (Заходняя Дзвіна). First mentioned in 1447, it was an important river port in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The town is known for its surviving 19th-century wooden architecture and its location on the scenic Daugava. It has a quiet, rural character with very few tourists. The climate is continental: warm summers (17–23°C) and cold winters (−5 to −10°C).

By Plane

Vitebsk Airport (VTB) is about 70 km northeast. Taxi costs BYN 80–100 (1 hr). Alternatively, Minsk National Airport (MSQ) is 220 km southwest.

By Train

Beshankovichy has no railway station. The nearest station is in Chashniki (30 km south) or Vitebsk (70 km northeast), with onward bus connections.

By Car / Road

From Vitebsk, take the P87 west toward Beshankovichy — about 70 km (1 hr). Roads are in fair condition. Buses from Vitebsk run 2–3 times daily (1.5 hr, BYN 6).

The settlement is walkable.
