Zhabinka

Bresckaja voblasć, Belarus

Why visit Zhabinka?

Zhabinka is a small town of around 14,500 people in western Bresckaja voblasć, on the Mukhavets River. Its name was first recorded in Russian official papers in 1817, but the town's real growth began in 1882, when a railway station was built here on the line linking Warsaw, Brest, and Moscow — within two decades the settlement grew from a village into a commercial hub, and it was formally granted town status in 1970. It sits on the M1/E30 highway between Brest and Kobryn and is primarily a railway and road junction today, with a big square and park at its center and a post-war sugar refinery built north of the rail line. It's mainly a transit stop with limited tourist attractions but serves as a convenient base for exploring the region.
