About Jidhafs
Jidhafs (also spelled Jidhaf) is a suburban town in the Al 'Asimah Governorate of Bahrain, located roughly 10 km west of central Manama. While it lacks the tourist infrastructure of the capital or Juffair's hotel district, Jidhafs offers visitors a genuine glimpse into everyday Bahraini residential life, with a mix of modern villas, older neighbourhoods, local mosques, and small-scale commerce. The town is primarily a bedroom community for those who work in Manama, and its streets are quiet compared to the capital's bustle.
The climate mirrors that of the wider Bahrain region — extremely hot and humid from June to September, with pleasant mild winters from November to March being the only comfortable time for walking around. Jidhafs has a small central market area and a handful of local eateries, but most visitors use it as a convenient base for exploring Manama while enjoying lower accommodation costs and a more relaxed pace.

Ride-hailing apps Uber and Careem are the most convenient option for getting around and into Manama, with fares typically BD 2–4. Taxis are less common in Jidhafs than in central Manama and should be arranged by phone or app. Buses connect Jidhafs to Manama and other suburbs, with fares starting at 250 fils using a Go Card.

Local Mosques — Jidhafs has several neighbourhood mosques that reflect Bahrain's religious architecture; non-Muslim visitors should respect prayer times and dress modestly when visiting.

Ask on WhatsAppFood & Dining
Jidhafs has a modest local dining scene focused on everyday Bahraini and South Asian cuisine. The central market area has small restaurants and cafeterias serving machboos, grilled chicken, biryani, and falafel at budget-friendly prices (meals BD 1–3). For a wider range of dining options, Manama's Adliya dining district and Juffair's restaurant strip are a short drive away. Traditional Bahraini dishes such as thareed and muhammar can be found in local eateries, though the selection is limited compared to the capital. Most food is halal.
Cafes & Nightlife
Karak chai (strong spiced tea with milk) is widely available at small cafés and corner shops throughout Jidhafs, typically costing 100–200 fils per cup. Arabic coffee (qahwa) is served with dates at local gatherings and at modest coffee shops near the central market area. Bottled water and soft drinks are available at every convenience store and supermarket. Alcohol is not served in Jidhafs itself — visitors seeking bars and pubs should head to Juffair or Manama, both a short taxi ride away. During Ramadan, public consumption of any drink during daylight hours is prohibited.
