Why visit?

Yevlax is a city and municipality in central Azerbaijan, situated at the junction of the Kura and Tartar rivers, approximately 300 kilometers west of Baku. The city serves as a major transportation hub, connecting the capital with the western regions of Azerbaijan and serving as a gateway to the Karabakh region. The municipality has a population of approximately 60,000 and is characterized by its flat, agricultural landscape with irrigated farmland producing cotton, grain, and melons.

The city's strategic position at the intersection of major roads and railways has made it a commercial and transit center for centuries. The climate is continental with hot, dry summers (35–40°C) and mild winters (2–8°C). The surrounding lowlands are among Azerbaijan's most productive agricultural areas, with the Kura River providing water for extensive irrigation systems. Yevlax is also known for its carpet weaving tradition, producing regional carpet designs distinct from those of other Azerbaijani weaving centers.

While Yevlax is primarily a transit and agricultural center, it offers a glimpse into the rhythms of central Azerbaijani life and serves as a practical base for exploring the surrounding regions.

When is the best time to visit?

The best time to visit Yevlax is during spring (April to June) and early autumn (September to October), when temperatures are pleasant (18–26°C) and the agricultural landscape is active. Summer months bring extreme heat (35–40°C), making outdoor exploration uncomfortable. Winters are mild but can be damp. Local agricultural fairs and seasonal celebrations occur during the harvest period in September and October.
