Shixarx
Tərtər, Azerbaijan
Why visit Shixarx?
Shixarx is a small village in the Tərtər District of Azerbaijan, located in the lowland plains east of the Lesser Caucasus foothills. Like many villages in the district, it has historically been a farming settlement, with residents engaged in livestock grazing and crop cultivation. The village lies near the Tartar River, which provides irrigation water for the surrounding fields.
The climate is warm temperate with hot summers (25–30°C) and cool winters (0–5°C). Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) are the most pleasant times to visit. The village is tiny and rural, offering a quiet glimpse into traditional Azerbaijani village life.
Shixarx has limited infrastructure — it is the kind of place travellers pass through rather than a destination with formal attractions. Visitors come here for the surrounding countryside and the calm rural atmosphere rather than any specific sights.
