Saribash

Qax, Azerbaijan

Why visit Saribash?

Saribash (also spelled Sarıbaş) is a village in Qax District in north-western Azerbaijan, high in the Greater Caucasus mountains. It is the second-highest village in Azerbaijan, surrounded by snowy summits, cold rivers, and waterfalls. The population is predominantly Tsakhur, a distinct ethnic group with their own language and traditions, who are known for their hospitality.

The way to Saribash is dramatic, passing through the Bulanıqsu stream crossing, which requires a 4WD vehicle. The village has a historic mosque, Haji Tapdig's mosque, built in the 16th–17th centuries. Summers are cool (14–22°C), winters harsh with deep snow.
