Vang
Kəlbəcər, Azerbaijan
Why visit Vang?
Vang is a village in the Kəlbəcər District of western Azerbaijan, in the Lesser Caucasus mountains. The district was under Armenian occupation from 1993 until Azerbaijan retook control on 25 November 2020, under the ceasefire that ended the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War, and was heavily depopulated and damaged during that period. Since 2022, Azerbaijan's "Great Return" state program has been rebuilding infrastructure and resettling former internally displaced residents, concentrated so far mainly in the district capital, Kalbajar city. Outlying villages such as Vang remain in early stages of reconstruction, with little to no permanent population and no verified tourist infrastructure as of this writing.
