About Gosh

Gosh is a village in western Tavuš Province, known for Goshavank Monastery — a 12th-century monastery complex founded by the scholar Mkhitar Gosh. The monastery is one of the finest examples of medieval Armenian architecture, set in a forest clearing above the village.

By Plane

Yerevan's Zvartnots International (EVN) is about 110 km southwest.

By Train

There is no train service to Gosh.

By Car / Road

Gosh is about 20 km from Dilijan (about 25 minutes). From Yerevan, about 110 km (1.5 hours).

By Bus / Minibus

Minibuses from Dilijan to Gosh run occasionally.

By Taxi

A taxi from Dilijan costs around 2,000–3,000 dram.

The village and monastery are walkable.

  • Goshavank Monastery — a 12th-century monastery with a church, library, and bell tower. The intricate stone carvings on the khachkars are exceptional.
  • Village setting — the monastery is in a peaceful forest clearing above the village.

Visit the monastery and walk the village. The site takes 1–2 hours. Combine with Haghartsin (15 km) for a full day.
