Best time for Trang An & Mua Caves

Reach Trang An before 8am or after 3pm to dodge crowds; Route 1 is the longest and most scenic. Climb Mua Caves at sunrise for serene, cooler views.

Getting around Ninh Binh

A rented scooter is the easiest way to reach Trang An, Tam Coc, the pagodas, and Hoa Lu, which are spread across the valley.

Cat Ba to Ninh Binh by open bus

The two regions connect by a midday open-bus service, so no back-tracking through Hanoi is needed between the coast and the karst valleys.
