Milhan is one of nine districts of Al Mahwit Governorate, in the highlands north of Al Mahwit city, part of Yemen's Haraz Mountains near Jabal An-Nabi Shu'ayb, the highest peak on the Arabian Peninsula. It is the most populous district in the governorate, with a 2003 census population of roughly 89,000, spread across traditional stone-built villages and terraced farmland.
