Why visit Kien Xuong?

Kiến Xương is a rural district in southern Thái Bình Province, about 10 km south of Thái Bình city. The district capital was historically Kiến Xương township but moved to Bình Minh commune in 2023. Covering 202 km² with a population of about 219,000, Kiến Xương has a long history — its area was part of Chân Định district during the Tang Dynasty and later belonged to Kiến Xương prefecture of Sơn Nam garrison. The modern district was established in 1946.

Kiến Xương is best known as the home of Đồng Xâm silvercraft village (in Thái Bình city's administrative area but historically associated with Kiến Xương), one of Vietnam's most renowned silversmithing communities. The district is also an agricultural centre, producing rice, vegetables, and aquaculture products. Its southern portion borders the Trà Lý River and the coastal Tiền Hải District.

The climate is humid subtropical. Summer (May–September) is hot and rainy; winter (November–March) is cool and dry. The best months to visit are October–November and March–April.
