Why visit Thuan An?

Thuan An is a city in southern Binh Duong province, lying directly north of Ho Chi Minh City across the Saigon River. It is best known for the Lai Thieu area, a historic cluster of villages famous for fruit orchards (rambutan, durian, mangosteen) and traditional ceramic pottery. While much of Thuan An is industrial — part of the southern manufacturing belt — the Lai Thieu orchard district retains a rural character that draws weekend visitors from HCMC.

The city's history is tied to its fruit-growing and pottery-making traditions, which date back over a century. In recent decades the western half of Thuan An has filled with factories and worker housing, while the eastern side along the Saigon River remains greener. The climate is tropical monsoon — hot and humid year-round (25–35 °C), with heavy rain from May to October and a drier season from November to April.
