Why visit Bac Tan Uyen?

Bac Tan Uyen is the northernmost district of Binh Duong province, a sparsely populated and heavily forested area that borders Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc provinces. It is the least developed part of Binh Duong, with a landscape of rolling hills, rubber plantations, cashew orchards, and sections of lowland tropical forest. The district was created in 2014 when Tan Uyen was split into two administrative units — the southern half became Tan Uyen town, while the northern half remained rural as Bac Tan Uyen.

The district is primarily agricultural and lacks the industrial parks found elsewhere in Binh Duong. Its attractions are natural: quiet roads through rubber groves, streams, and forested hills. The pace of life is slow, and the local economy centres on rubber tapping, cashew farming, and small-scale trade. The climate is tropical monsoon — hot year-round with a rainy season from May to October and a dry season from November to April.

What are the things to do?

  • Rubber Plantations — Endless hillsides of rubber trees create a striking landscape. Early morning (before 8am) is the best time to watch latex tapping.

  • Forest Trails — Patches of secondary forest remain in the hilly areas, accessible by motorbike and on foot.

  • Bac Tan Uyen Market — The small district market serves the local farming community with fresh produce and basic goods.

  • Stream valleys — Several small streams cut through the hills, creating pleasant picnic spots during the dry season.

  • Motorbike touring — The quiet, winding roads through rubber and cashew plantations offer excellent scenic rides with very little traffic.

  • Trekking in the hills — The forested hills north and east of the district centre have informal trails suitable for hiking.

  • Photography — The landscapes, plantation workers, and rural life provide rich subject matter.

  • Picnic by a stream — Several shaded spots along streams are popular with local day-trippers.
