Hoai Nhon
Bình Định, Viet Nam
Why visit Hoai Nhon?
Hoai Nhon (Vietnamese: Hoài Nhơn) is a coastal district-level town in northern Bình Định province, about 60 km north of Quy Nhon. It is the northernmost urban area in the province, situated along National Highway 1A and the Reunification Express railway. Hoai Nhon is primarily an agricultural and fishing community, with a growing reputation for its unspoiled beaches and relaxed coastal atmosphere.
The town straddles the Lại Giang River near its mouth where it empties into the South China Sea. The climate is typical of coastal central Vietnam: a hot dry season from April to September, a monsoon season from September to December with heavy rainfall, and cooler but pleasant weather from December to February. Hoai Nhon sees fewer tourists than Quy Nhon, making it ideal for travellers seeking an authentic coastal Vietnamese experience.

The main settlement stretches along Highway 1A and is navigable by foot in the central area. Xe ôm (motorbike taxis) and local taxis are available for trips to outlying beaches and villages. Renting a motorbike (100,000–150,000 dong/day) is the best way to explore the coast.

Swimming and beachcombing: Hoai Nhon's beaches are clean and quiet, ideal for swimming during the dry season (April–September).
Boat tours: Arrange a trip with local fishermen on their boats to explore the coastline and nearby islets.
Cycling: The flat coastal roads make for pleasant cycling, especially early morning or late afternoon.
