Why visit Loru Rainforest Protected Area?

The Loru Rainforest Protected Area is a community-managed conservation area near Hog Harbour on the east coast of Espiritu Santo in Sanma Province, Vanuatu. Established by the local village community, the protected area encompasses a tract of lowland rainforest that is home to a rich diversity of birdlife, butterflies, and native flora. It is one of Vanuatu's most accessible rainforest reserves and offers visitors the chance to walk through intact tropical forest on well-maintained trails with a local guide. Loru is a model for community-based ecotourism in Vanuatu.

The climate is tropical. The dry season (May to October) is the best time for walking, as trails can be muddy during the wet season (November to April).
