Why visit Breckenridge?
Breckenridge is a historic ski resort and mountain town at the northern tip of the south central region of Colorado, in the Rocky Mountains. With a year-round population of about 5,000, it is one of Colorado's most popular ski destinations and the prototype of the Western Slope resort cities that developed following the explosive growth of the ski industry. The town sits at about 9,600 feet elevation, with the ski resort base at 9,600 feet and summit at 12,998 feet.
Breckenridge experiences a classic mountain climate with long, snowy winters and mild summers. The ski season typically runs from mid-November through late April, with annual snowfall exceeding 350 inches. Summer temperatures range from highs in the 60s-70s°F to cool nights in the 40s°F. The historic Main Street district preserves Victorian-era buildings from the town's gold mining days, while the ski resort attracts visitors from around the world.
