Jebel Ali

Dubayy, United Arab Emirates

Why visit Jebel Ali?

Jebel Ali is a port and industrial zone in the Emirate of Dubai, about 35 km southwest of Dubai city centre. It is home to the Jebel Ali Port, the largest man-made harbour in the world and the busiest container port in the Middle East, as well as the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA), which hosts thousands of international companies. The name means "Ali's Mountain" in Arabic, after a local hill.

While primarily an industrial and logistics area, Jebel Ali also has residential compounds for port and free-zone employees, a beach park, and the Dubai Parks and Resorts complex nearby. The Palm Jebel Ali (a larger but stalled palm-shaped island) marks the coastline. The area has a utilitarian, workaday atmosphere compared to glitzy central Dubai.

The climate is coastal desert with high humidity — summer highs hit 45°C, winters are pleasant at 20–30°C.
