Hatta
Dubayy, United Arab Emirates
Why visit Hatta?
Hatta is a mountain enclave belonging to the Emirate of Dubai, nestled in the Hajar Mountains about 130 km southeast of Dubai city. Unlike Dubai's coastal desert landscape, Hatta is a rocky wadi valley with freshwater pools, terraced farms, and a cooler climate. It was historically a stop on the trade route between the coast and Oman, and the Hatta Heritage Village preserves traditional mountain life.
The area is divided into two parts: the old Hatta village (restored heritage houses and fort) and the modern Hatta settlement with hotels and tourist facilities. The surrounding Hajar range offers some of the UAE's best hiking, mountain biking, and paddling. In winter, temperatures drop to 10–15°C at night — noticeably cooler than the coast.
Hatta has become a popular weekend getaway for Dubai residents seeking outdoor activities away from the city. The Hatta Master Plan (underway) is adding a sustainable tourism hub with lodges, a nature reserve, and enhanced trails.
