Today it is primarily an agricultural service centre known for its apple orchards and potato farming.
The climate mirrors Niğde: continental with hot, dry summers and cold, snowy winters. Spring and autumn are the best seasons to visit. The town centre is mostly modern but retains a few historic mosques.
