Penal

Penal-Debe, Trinidad and Tobago

Why visit Penal?

Penal is the administrative centre of the Penal-Debe region in southern Trinidad, a predominantly Indo-Trinidadian community surrounded by agricultural land. The town serves as a commercial hub for the surrounding villages, with local shops, a market, and several Hindu temples. Penal has a quiet, small-town character that reflects the rural, agricultural nature of southern Trinidad.

The climate is tropical — dry season January to May, wet season June to November. The flat lowland terrain makes the dry months hot and humid.
