Barrackpore is a quiet inland village in the Penal-Debe region of southern Trinidad, surrounded by sugarcane fields and agricultural land. The village has a predominantly Indo-Trinidadian population with a strong agricultural heritage. The climate is tropical — dry season January to May, wet season June to November. The flat lowland terrain is typical of Trinidad's southern agricultural belt.

How do you get there?

By Plane

Piarco International Airport (POS) is approximately 80 km north. A taxi costs around TT$400–500.

By Car / Road

Barrackpore is about 15 km southeast of Penal and 30 km south of San Fernando via local roads. The drive from San Fernando takes approximately 35–40 minutes. Maxi taxis serve the area from San Fernando and Penal.

The village is small and walkable. A car or taxi is useful for exploring the surrounding agricultural area and connecting to neighbouring towns.
