Maraval

Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago

Why visit Maraval?

Maraval is a valley community in the Diego Martin region of Trinidad, nestled in the foothills of the Northern Range south of the Diego Martin valley. The village is set in a lush, green valley through which the Maraval River flows from the mountains to the lowlands. The Maraval Reservoir, one of Port of Spain's main water supplies, is located in the upper part of the valley and gives the area a scenic focal point.

Maraval has a quieter, more residential character than the busier Diego Martin valley to the north. The population includes middle-class families and some of Trinidad's more established communities. The climate is tropical, with temperatures averaging 25–31°C, though the hillside areas are slightly cooler. The wet season runs from June to December, with heavy rainfall in the mountains above.

Maraval offers access to hiking in the Northern Range, views of the reservoir, and a peaceful atmosphere away from the bustle of Port of Spain, which is only about 15 minutes away by car.
