Why visit Playa Blanca?
Playa Blanca is a resort town on the southern tip of Lanzarote, known for its white-sand beaches, clear turquoise waters, and spectacular views across the strait to the mountains of Fuerteventura. Originally a fishing village, it has grown into a popular family resort with a pleasant marina, good restaurants, and easy access to the Papagayo beaches and Timanfaya National Park.

By Plane
The nearest airport depends on the island (TFS, TFN, ACE, LPA, FUE, SPC, VDE, GMZ). Taxis and car hire are available at all airports.
By Car / Road
Hire car is the most practical way to explore. Roads are well maintained, though some interior routes are winding and narrow. Free parking is generally available outside town centres.
Within towns, walking is the best option. For inter-town travel, public guaguas (buses) are reliable and affordable. Taxis are metered and available in larger towns. Car hire offers the most flexibility for exploring the island.
What are the things to do?
Playa de Papagayo — a series of pristine coves with golden sand and crystal-clear water, part of the Los Ajaches Natural Monument. Accessible via a dirt road (€3 per vehicle).
Playa Blanca — the main town beach with soft golden sand, calm waters, and a palm-lined promenade.
Marina Rubicón — a modern marina with upmarket shops, restaurants, and a daily market.
Castillo de las Coloradas — a small 18th-century watchtower on the cliffs at the eastern end of the bay.
Spend a day at the Papagayo beaches — a €5 taxi from town or a scenic 40-minute walk.
Take the ferry to Fuerteventura (Corralejo) — a 30-minute crossing.
Go scuba diving or snorkelling in the clear coastal waters.
Explore the nearby Timanfaya National Park.
