Magburaka

Northern, Sierra Leone

Why visit Magburaka?

Magburaka is a city in Northern Province, Sierra Leone, and the former capital of the north before Makeni assumed that role during the civil war. It was a stop on the Bauya–Makeni branch of the now-defunct Sierra Leone Railway, and some old railway buildings can still be seen. Since 2011, a major programme of reconstruction has resurfaced roads throughout the town with asphalt.

The climate is tropical, with a rainy season from April to September. The dry season from October to March is the best time to visit.
