Lipljan (Albanian: Lipjan) is a town situated in the central Kosovo basin along the Sitnica River, approximately 16 kilometres south of Pristina and 25 kilometres north of Ferizaj. The settlement developed near the Roman city of Ulpiana and functioned as a medieval commercial crossroads connecting central Kosovo with the Nerodime valley and the Skopje corridor.

Notable attractions in the immediate area include the subterranean marble formations of Gadime Cave, the 14th-century Church of the Presentation of the Virgin, the historic artisan settlement of Janjevo in the eastern hills, and the nearby Roman ruins of Ulpiana.
The local climate is humid continental. Summers (June through August) are warm, with daytime averages between 26°C and 30°C, occasionally reaching 34°C during heat waves. Winters (December through February) are cold, with daytime averages around 2°C to 5°C and night temperatures frequently dropping below freezing (-5°C to 0°C), accompanied by periodic snowfall.
