Canepa
Citta di San Marino, San Marino
Why visit Canepa?
Canepa is a picturesque rural hamlet (curazia) located in the valley below the eastern slopes of Monte Titano, within the municipality of Città di San Marino. The area is historically significant and famous for the Mulini di Canepa (Canepa watermills), a series of ancient stone mills along the San Marino stream that once ground grain for the republic. Tucked into a lush, wooded valley, Canepa offers a cool and verdant microclimate, making it a favorite spot for hikers and nature lovers.
The hamlet is surrounded by scenic forests and natural rock formations, providing a sharp contrast to the stone battlements and paved alleys of the capital above. It is a peaceful area where the sound of running water and wind through the chestnut trees creates a serene atmosphere.
