Cap Estate
Gros Islet, Saint Lucia
Why visit Cap Estate?
Cap Estate is the northernmost point of Saint Lucia, an exclusive headland area characterized by rolling hills, dramatic cliff edges, luxury villas, and an 18-hole championship golf course. The peninsula juts northward between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, offering some of the most dramatic coastal scenery on the island. The area is predominantly residential, with high-end villas and boutique resorts scattered across the manicured hillsides.
The estate's history dates back to the colonial era when the headland was a sugar plantation. The name "Cap" reflects its French colonial origins. Today, the former plantation land has been redeveloped into one of the Caribbean's most desirable addresses, with property prices among the highest on the island. The area retains a sense of seclusion and exclusivity that sets it apart from the busier tourist zones to the south.
Cap Estate is home to Pigeon Island National Landmark — the 44-acre historic park connected to the mainland by a man-made causeway — which is the area's principal attraction and one of Saint Lucia's most important heritage sites. The headland's position between two coasts means visitors can watch both sunrise over the Atlantic and sunset over the Caribbean from different vantage points.

Cap Estate is reached via the main north-coast road, continuing north past Gros Islet village for approximately 4 km. The road winds through the estate's hills, passing luxury villas and the golf course before reaching Pigeon Island. Well-paved but narrow in places. Minibuses from Castries terminate at Gros Islet village; from there, a taxi (EC$15–25) or rental car is needed to explore the estate. Driving time from Castries is approximately 35 minutes.
Cap Estate is spread over several hills and is not walkable as a whole — distances between attractions can be 2–4 km on hilly roads without sidewalks. A rental car or taxi is essential for getting around. The Pigeon Island causeway and park are walkable once you arrive at the entrance. The golf course operates its own shuttle for guests.
