Richfond

Dennery, Saint Lucia

Why visit Richfond?

Richfond is a small, quiet agricultural village nestled in the hills above Dennery on Saint Lucia's Atlantic coast. Set among lush banana plantations and secondary rainforest, the community is home to a few hundred residents who depend primarily on farming and small-scale agriculture. The village sits at an elevation of roughly 200 metres, offering cooler temperatures and sweeping views over the treetops toward the Atlantic Ocean.

Life in Richfond moves at an unhurried pace dictated by the rhythms of agriculture and the seasons. The village has a strong sense of community, with neighbours knowing each other by name and sharing in the labour of harvesting bananas, cocoa, and root crops. The Creole heritage is deeply embedded here — Kwéyòl is the primary language spoken among residents, and traditional practices around food preparation, farming, and storytelling persist.

For visitors, Richfond offers a window into authentic rural Saint Lucian life that few tourists ever see. The village serves as a base for hiking through the surrounding rainforest, with trails connecting to other hillside communities and offering opportunities to spot endemic bird species and tropical flora.
