Zimnicea
Teleorman, Romania
Why visit Zimnicea?
Zimnicea is the southernmost town in Romania, located on the left bank of the Danube River opposite the Bulgarian city of Svishtov. It is a port town with a history dating back to Geto-Dacian times. The town was rebuilt after the 1977 Vrancea earthquake, which devastated much of the old settlement. Today it serves as a Danube harbour and a border crossing point via the Svishtov–Zimnicea ferry.
