Why visit Geoagiu?
Geoagiu is a spa town in Hunedoara County, Transylvania, on the Mureș River at 217 m elevation. Its thermal springs, known as Thermae Germisara since Roman times, have been used for healing for over two millennia. The name derives from the Hungarian "Gyógy," meaning curative. First documented in 1291 as villa Gyog.

By Plane
The nearest airports are Sibiu International Airport (SBZ), about 80 km east, and Timișoara Traian Vuia Airport (TSR), about 170 km west.
By Train
Geoagiu has a train station on the CFR Main Line 200 (Bucharest–Banat line). Trains stop at both Geoagiu and Aurel Vlaicu stations, connecting to Deva, Alba Iulia, Sibiu and beyond.
By Car / Road
Geoagiu is on county road DJ 705, off E68/DN7 between Orăștie and Sebeș. The A1 motorway passes nearby. From Deva, take E68 east for about 30 km, then turn onto DJ 705 north.
You can easily walk around the town centre. To reach Geoagiu-Băi spa resort (6 km away), take a taxi or local minibus.
What are the things to do?
Geoagiu-Băi Spa Resort (Thermae Germisara) — Roman-era thermal baths at 350 m altitude in the Apuseni hills. Calcareous and ferruginous water at 33°C, used for rheumatic and internal cures.
Roman Camp and Baths — south of Cigmău village, near Geoagiu. Remains of the Roman fort Germisara.
Rotonde Type Church — a rare circular medieval chapel.
Clocota Thermal Waterfall — a natural thermal waterfall in Geoagiu-Băi.
Bathe in the thermal pools at Hotel Germisara or Hotel Diana.
Go dancing at Tarabostes Club (inside Baile Daco-Romane Complex, capacity 4,000).
Hike the local gorges: Madei Gorge (12 km), Ardeului Gorge (12 km), Bacaiei Gorge (14 km).
Visit Geoagiu-Băi Cave and the Geoagiu-Băi Fall.
