Mihăilești is a town in Giurgiu County, Muntenia, Romania, with a population of 7,760 as of 2021. It administers three villages: Drăgănescu, Novaci, and Popești. The town lies on the Argeș River, which is dammed here to form a lake about 5 km long, created as part of the Danube–Bucharest Canal project. It officially became a town in 1989. Popești village is the site of the ancient Dacian settlement of Argedava, believed by some historians to have been the court or capital of King Burebista.
