Why visit?

Giurgiu County lies on the Danube in southern Romania, directly across the river from Ruse, Bulgaria. The county seat, Giurgiu city, is linked to Ruse by the Giurgiu–Ruse "Friendship Bridge," a road-and-rail crossing opened in 1954. Landmarks include the Ottoman-era clock tower, the ruins of the 14th-century Giurgiu Fortress built by Mircea the Elder, and, southeast of the city, the Comana Monastery (traditionally associated with Vlad Țepeș) and Comana Nature Park, a wetland reserve.

When is the best time to visit?
