Simaisma
Az̧ Z̧a‘āyin, Qatar
Why visit Simaisma?
Simaisma is a small coastal town in Qatar's Az̧ Z̧a‘āyin municipality, situated along the Gulf shoreline between Doha and Lusail to the south and Al Khor to the north. For generations a quiet pearling and fishing village, Simaisma has evolved into a modest beach-oriented escape for residents of the capital. Its main draw is the long stretch of sandy shoreline and the relative peace compared to busier Doha beaches.
The climate mirrors the rest of Qatar's coast: scorching summers (May–September, regularly above 40°C) and mild, pleasant winters (November–March, 20–26°C). The winter months are the ideal time to visit, when the beach and outdoor areas are comfortable. Simaisma remains low-key and undeveloped compared to the glossy master-planned Lusail just south, giving it a more traditional, unhurried character.
