Taguig

National Capital Region, Philippines

Why visit Taguig?

Taguig has undergone one of the most dramatic transformations in Metro Manila over the past two decades. Once a sleepy lakeside town on Laguna de Bay, the creation of Bonifacio Global City (BGC) — a master-planned, mixed-use business district on a former military base — turned Taguig into one of the Philippines' premier addresses. BGC is now the country's most walkable urban district, with wide sidewalks, landscaped parks, and a grid of tree-lined streets lined with high-end shops, restaurants, and corporate headquarters. Outside BGC, the old Taguig waterfront along Laguna de Bay retains its traditional fishing-village character.

How do you get there?

BGC is accessible via C-5 (Carlos P. Garcia Avenue), McKinley Parkway, and the Kalayaan Flyover from EDSA. Buses from various Metro Manila points terminate at BGC's Market! Market! terminal. By car, BGC is 15 minutes from Makati and 20 minutes from Manila in light traffic.

BGC is the most walkable district in the Philippines outside of Makati's Ayala Center. A free BGC Bus shuttle system connects key points within the district (every 15–20 minutes). Tricycles and jeepneys serve the older Taguig barangays. Grab is widely available.

What are the things to do?

  • Bonifacio High Street — The main pedestrian spine of BGC, lined with retail shops, restaurants, and al fresco cafes. Public art installations dot the street.
