Tomas Romero Pereira

Itapúa, Paraguay

Why visit Tomas Romero Pereira?

Tomás Romero Pereira, whose urban center is also known as María Auxiliadora, is a district in northeastern Itapúa department, named after a former Paraguayan president. It was established as an independent municipality on September 22, 1983, having separated from the district now known as Natalio. The district's population includes settler communities of Japanese, French, Belgian, Brazilian, Ukrainian, and Polish descent alongside Paraguayans. It is known locally as the "capital of the carrot" — the only significant carrot-growing area in Itapúa department, and a major supplier for national consumption, with the crop supporting large numbers of farming families. The climate is subtropical; best visited May–September.
