Why visit Geidam?
Geidam is a town in northern Yobe State and the headquarters of Geidam Local Government Area, a semi-arid district of over 4,000 km² recorded at around 157,000 people in the 2006 census. Trading, farming, and fishing are the main local economic activities, and the town hosts Mai-Idris Alooma Polytechnic, a state-owned institution established in 1993. Geidam briefly fell to ISWAP fighters in April 2021 before Nigerian forces retook it; visitors should check current security advisories before travelling.
