Fika
Yobe, Nigeria
Why visit Fika?
Fika is a historic town in Yobe State and gives its name to the Fika Emirate, whose Bole-speaking founders trace their arrival to the area to 1805 and, by tradition, their lineage back to the 15th century. Fika town served as the emirate's original headquarters before these moved to nearby Potiskum in 1924; the emirate remains one of the larger traditional states in Yobe, now led by its 13th emir since 1805 (43rd by the Bole's own count).
