About Kyaikto

Kyaikto is a town in western Mon State, located at the base of the mountain that leads to the Kyaiktiyo Pagoda (Golden Rock) — one of Myanmar's most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage sites. The town is the main gateway to the Golden Rock, with the pilgrimage base camp at Kinpun village located 15 km east. Most visitors pass through Kyaikto en route to the Golden Rock.

The best time to visit is November to February. The town is a transport hub with minimal attractions of its own.
