Yamethin (also spelled Yamethin) is a town in southern Mandalay Region, located on the Yangon–Mandalay highway approximately 200 km south of Mandalay. It is an agricultural town in the dry zone, known for its rice, sesame, and cotton production. The town has a quiet provincial character and sees few foreign visitors.
The climate is hot and dry, with the cool season (November–February) being the most comfortable time to visit. The town is compact and centred around a market and several pagodas.

By Plane
Mandalay International Airport (MDL) is 200 km north. A taxi costs around 70,000–90,000 kyat and takes 3–4 hours.
By Train
Yamethin is on the Yangon–Mandalay railway line. Trains from Mandalay (3–4 hr), Naypyidaw (2 hr), and Yangon (6–7 hr) stop here.
By Car / Road
Yamethin is on the main Yangon–Mandalay highway, about a 3-hour drive south of Mandalay (200 km) and 2 hours north of Naypyidaw (120 km). Buses and shared taxis pass through regularly.
The town is walkable. Motorcycle taxis are available.
