Bagakhangai is a district of Ulaanbaatar, located about 40 km south of the city centre. The name means "Small Khan" in Mongolian. It is a small, semi-rural settlement within the administrative boundaries of the capital city. The area is forested and hilly, with a tranquil atmosphere quite different from urban Ulaanbaatar.

The climate is continental: cold winters and mild summers. June through August is the best travel period.

Bagakhangai is primarily a residential area and transit point for travellers heading south on the main road towards the Gobi Desert.

From Ulaanbaatar, take the main southern road towards the airport. Bagakhangai is about 30 minutes south of the city.
