Sanglang
Perlis, Malaysia
Why visit Sanglang?
Sanglang is a coastal fishing village in southern Perlis, near the border with Kedah, about 15 km south of Kangar. Unlike the busier Kuala Perlis to the west, Sanglang is a quiet, traditional settlement where life revolves around fishing and small-scale agriculture. The village is strung along a single road facing the Straits of Melaka, with wooden stilt houses, fishing boats moored along the shore, and drying racks for ikan bilis (anchovies) and salted fish.
Sanglang offers an authentic glimpse of coastal Malay village life with no tourist infrastructure whatsoever. The appeal lies in its unvarnished authenticity: the smell of drying fish, the chatter of fishing nets being mended, and the calm rhythm of tides.
