Why visit Tanjung Tualang?
Tanjung Tualang is a town in Perak, about a 40-minute drive from Ipoh. It is known for its tin-dredging heritage: Tin Dredge No. 5 (TT5), a 4,500-tonne steel dredge built in England in 1938 and upgraded in 1963, operated on the site for 44 years until 1982 and is now the last surviving tin dredge in Malaysia. Recognized for its engineering heritage and part of the Kinta Valley National Geopark since 2018, the dredge sits on Tasik Tualang, a former mining lake now used for freshwater fishing.
