Central Region is the heart of Malawi, encompassing the capital city of Lilongwe and a vast agricultural hinterland. The region stretches from the Zambian border in the west to Lake Malawi in the east, with landscapes ranging from rolling plains to the Dedza Plateau. Key destinations include Lilongwe, the purpose-built capital; Kasungu National Park, a wildlife reserve in the northwest; Nkhotakota, a historic lake town; and the Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve. The region is also home to the Dedza Pottery and the historic Mua Mission.
