Al Jufrah, Libya

Why visit Sokna?

Sokna is a settlement in the Al Jufrah district of Libya. The old medina of Sokna is one of the best-preserved examples of traditional Saharan architecture in the region, with houses built from locally made mud bricks and palm-trunk roofs. The irrigation system, based on underground channels (foggara), is still in use in some parts of the oasis.
